Graduate female students
Anita Borg is a modern role model not only for women, but technologists the world over. She was a strong believer in technology and of how it affects all aspects of our economic, political, social and personal lives. Described on Google’s blog as “a technology rebel with a cause”, she fought tirelessly to ensure that technology’s impact would be a positive one. Inspired by her vision, Anita founded the Institute for Women and Technology in 1997. Today this organization continues on her legacy and bears her name, “The Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology“.

In her honour, Google have set up the “Anita Borg Scholarship” where recipients will each receive a financial award for the academic year. Scholarships are offered based on the strength of each candidate’s academic background and demonstrated leadership.

In addition, all scholarship recipients and finalists are invited to attend a retreat at Google. The retreat includes workshops, speakers, panelists, breakout sessions and social activities.

This year, Google is recognizing the achievements of 70 outstanding young women. Find the full list of scholars and finalists here.

I take this opportunity to congratulate and wish the recipients and finalists, all the very best in their future endeavours.
