Early this month Pritha, Tamsin and I visited the Google Office in London to get a sneak peak at Google’s second quarter product launches (or updates) – unfortunately due to a nasty non-disclosure-agreement (NDA) with Google, I’m unable to disclose with you some of the cool new product updates they have in store this coming quarter. However, what I can share with you is my log of the day’s events, some amusing and some really pointless. I hope you decide to continue reading further though
5:00am – woke up to my phone alarm and hit the snooze button.
5:20am – alarm went off once again! This time I actually got out of bed, showered and left the house at 6:15am (ironing my shirt took longer than I expected).
6:25am – Pritha picked me up near the Fir Tree on Iffley road and we drove straight to the Didcot train station.
6:40am – For the very first time, Pritha was actually speeding; but she didn’t let me take a picture of the speed meter, so I took a picture of the road ahead instead. If you look at the picture really hard, you’d probably feel the speed.
6:59am – made it to the Didcot train station. You could actually see the Didcot power station too…
7:35am – arrived in London, got ourselves coffee (I bought a chocolate twist as well) and we waited until Tamsin arrived.
8:30am – arrived at the Google office.
There were a few buildings that were painted with the Google colours:
I think this was completely coincidental though.
We also saw a giant blob…
The office was actually quite sleek and cool. In fact, I was actually a tad bit disappointed as I was expecting the Google office to look much more quirky and geeky.
We then were meant to find our name tags which was more of a simple label with names printed on it. But sadly half the attendee’s names weren’t printed so some of us had to hand write them ourselves.
Here’s my label:
After the launch, Pri, Tamsin and I took the liberties to venture out into the building, this is what we saw:
All in all, the day was quite pleasant. Felt like geek’s paradise
I’m looking forward to all of Google’s product updates this coming quarter, and I will make sure to keep you in the know as and when they get officially launched.
